I originally got the chest rig front with chest rig back, rather than the vest platform from the start. This is because when working in field, you will be issued a kevlar/fragmentation vest underneath, and the idea of wearing a vest over a vest is weird in my opinion. The chest rig is more breathable than the vest that covers your entire torso, and on top of that, the buckles on side are near the front and not back like the vest platforms, which makes putting on and taking off the chest rig much easier and smoother. The back panel allows me to dangle my hearing protection on side, put ICE plates on the back of MOLLE panel for hydration and add a 200rd box pouch so that way I can carry an extra 200rd pouch for when I am a gunner or keep miscellaneous items that my buddies can grab from my back. On top of that, you also have a inner pocket that allows you to store other admin/utilities. I store my goretex winter gloves or winter exercises. Before purchasing this, if you intend to put a plate inside of the inner pocket, try getting a smaller plate as it won't fit your standard medium sized plates.
